Cross Necklaces - So Many Styles to Choose From

Cross necklaces have been around for thousands of years dating back to before B.C. and hold different meanings for many different people. Depending on their background, the crosses can vary greatly giving you a wide array of beautiful different types to choose from, which is why I am going to differentiate these for you making your choice a little bit easier. I am going to give you some background on some of the more common crosses such as the Celtic, Christian, and Western crosses making the process of finding the right cross for you a breeze.

Christian crosses are probably one of the most common types of crosses you will find today anywhere you go which is why this will be my focus. These can range from Latin, Greek, to Celtic or to the Swastika depending on the type of Christian faith you most relate to personally. One thing most of these crosses have in common is the fact that generally you will see more silver crosses than anything because that seems to reach a more profound amount of people do to its commonality. The Latin cross pendant is carried by more people than any other religious faith and is a representation of the Trinity. It can also be called a Protestant cross because its generally a plain silver cross pendant without any adornments or decorations. However, you see this type of silver cross pendant within the Catholic church because it symbolizes the crucifix, which is the focus of their faith.

The Celtic cross pendant has a range that reaches across many types of Christian faiths and is just as much a symbol of heritage as it is of faith. These can vary from Irish to Scottish or even Welsh backgrounds which has a wealth of history and meaning that many hold very dear to their hearts. Although traditionally, crosses have been given a religious connotation because of the crucifixion of Christ, Celtic crosses were in evidence long before the Celtic people converted to Christianity. This silver cross pendant is not only a christian symbol, but is also rich with folklore and mystery which makes it a very interesting and popular cross pendant because of its ability to reach a wide range of people.

Whether you decide to make a Celtic cross your silver cross pendant of choice or the Latin cross, both make a statement that can make you proud. Silver cross pendants vary greatly and are all beautiful symbols that have great depth and meaning, and my hope is that with the little bit of background and meaning that I gave you, this will make your choice just a little bit easier.
