A piece of copper tube is cut with a pipe cutter. This pipe cutter is very sharp and cuts with great precision.
Dimentions of the copper tube: External diameter = 1.9 cm, internal diameter = 1.6 cm

The piece which was cut (3.2 cm long) is then gripped in a vice and sliced across with a hand saw. (Only one side of it).

A small piece of liver of sulphur is melted into warm water. The plate is then dipped into the liquid for a few seconds
to give it a brown antique finish.

Side view: The bead is placed on the star and the rod is inserted through them to pierce to the other side of the
plate (a hole was punched through the plate in advance). The mixed epoxy glue is applied evenly to all the pieces,
to insure strength. It is allowed to dry for 20 minutes.

Carpet adhesive is applied to the back side of the plate, and a rectangular rubber membrane is prepared.

The copper plate is pressed againsed the rubber membrane and allowed to dry for 20 minutes.

The edges of the membrane are nicely cut with scissors on the borders of the plate and a leather strap is tied through the hole.
