Hallo Rani,
I have a question about the dog tags. Can you tell me what information is
written on the original israeli army dog tags? I think about ordering one
and I'd like to inscript something on it.
Thank you.
Greetings,
Johannes
Answer :
Dear Johannes,
From what I remember from my military service, the dogtag is inscribed with
the full name of the person and also his army serial number.
Army serial number is like an I.d number which is assigned to every soldier.
If you notice, the tag is divided in the middle by a line. The information
is inscribed
on both sides equally. In case the soldier dies, God forbid, the tag is
broken in to two pieces. One stays with the body, for identification
purposes, and the other is sent to the army registration office.

Question :
Hi,
My son wanted Israeli Army Dog tags (he has been to Israel twice and we
are moving there this summer). Is it possible to have the tags
engraved in Hebrew?
Be well,
Mallory
Answer :
Shalom Mallory,
Yes, it is possible to have the tags
engraved in Hebrew.

Rani
Question :
Hi,
I was interested in purchasing the Israeli Army Dog Tags, engraved with my name in Hebrew. I would like it done in the traditional way, which I believe is having it inscribed on both parts of the tag (top and bottom), correct?
The name to be inscribed: Michael Cohen (please inscribe in hebrew).
Please let me know how much it will come to, including regular shipping to the US, and how I should pay for it (credit card preferred).
Thank you very much - I love all of your products, great work!
Sorry, I forgot to add in one thing for the engraving. Since they usually have their serial number below their name on the tag, I figured it might be neat to put my birthdate below (since I don't have a serial number).
You can put it in numbered form, as: 081886 (also in Hebrew).
Thanks!
Michael Cohen
Answer :
Shalom Michael,
No Problem !

Question :
Hello.
I am writing this on impulse; please pardon my troubling you with a trivial thing.
I live in the USA. At a convenience store recently I bought for $2 or so a single dog tag on a chain. It's shaped like a US dog tag, not like an Israeli one. It has the USA flag on one side, under some sort of transparent plastic. The other side is blank. As I say, it's the kind of small item they display near the cash register so people like me will grab them on impulse while waiting in the check-out line.
So today I searched for Israeli dog tags on the web and found your site and I'm asking on impulse whether you know if such a trinket exists with an Israeli flag. It's of less quality than the stuff on your web site but perhaps you know where patriotic trinkets can be found.
If there is an Israeli equivalent of the "Oriental Trading Company" they might have it. :-)
I'm not Jewish, not a Christian Zionist, just a plain ol' non-descript American.

Hi Jason,
Sorry, I really don't know, but it's a really cool question, can post it on my website on the questions and answers section? I hope you woun't mind...

Question :
Hello,
I am interested in purchasing the Army Dog Tag Star of
David Necklace (code #534) and was wondering if you
could have something engraved or embossed on the back
side of it in Hebrew. I was hoping to get a verse from
Micah that says:
"Act Justly,
Love Mercy,
Walk humbly with your God." (Micah 6:8)
Please let me know if you can do this, how much it
would cost and whether there is a discount for buying
several. Thanks very much...
Shalom,
Vlad K
Answer :
Shalom Vlad,
You mean like this ?
Rani
Question :
Shalom Rani,
Thank you for your extremely prompt reply! I regret to
say that I am still in the process of learning Hebrew,
so I really cannot read this. It looks like more
writing than I anticipated...is this the whole verse
from Micah 6:8? I was really only going to get the
last part, starting from "Act justly..." This was
mostly due to space considerations since the dog tag
is not very large and I didnt want you to have to
squeeze too much text in there.
But, it sounds like you would be able to do it, right?
So, what I would like to know is how much it will cost
for the the dog tag with the writing? Also, whether
there would be a discount if I were to purchase
several of these (or possibly more)? Finally, I was
wondering what method you would use to get the writing
on the dog tag. Will it be embossed (with raised
lettering) or engraved?
Thanks very much Rani. I'm really excited about this
and can't wait to hear from you!
Shalom,
Vlad
P.S. How much will it cost to ship from Israel to
California?
Answer :
Shalom Vlad,
Let's talk about one piece first :
1) You were right about the space considerations; It would be possible to fit in only part of the verse:
"Act Justly,
Love Mercy,
Walk humbly with your God."
2) It will be engraved (not embossed with raised characters)
3) Price :
$33 Including shipping
4) If you order several, then of course you will get a discount, depending on the quantity.
5) The picture shows dots inside and around the letters, but these will not be engraved. (These dots are pronounciation marks)
6) Let me know if you want quotation marks on both sides of the verse.

Rani
Question :
Hello Rani,
Thanks again for getting back to me quickly.
That text would be perfect...I actually prefer it
without the vowel dots. Iprefer embossed but engraved
works. No quotation marks necessary.
$33 is more than I was expecting...the tag is $5 and I
just saw that shipping is free. So that means that the
engraving is $28...is engraving really that expensive?
I thought I read on the site that engraving would be
$15.
Shalom,
Vlad
Answer :
Shalom Vlad,
You are absolutly right. It turned out very expensive.
This is what It costs me :
$5 shipping
$5 tag
$15 engraving
<
I do not have an engraving machine. I have to go down town and have it made
in a gift shop. I showed them the bible verse and
they calculated 10 words and said that it would cost me $15.
I add $8 for my own profit.
I might get an engraving machine in the future, and then I could cut back on
the engraving costs. But I really don't know when that will be...
Rani
Question :
Rani,
I really appreciate your honesty. Though it turned out to be more than I expected, I think it is fair as per your price breakdown and so I would like to order one from you. Please send one down to be engraved ASAP and send me an invoice and how you prefer me to pay.
Again, please put the engraving on the back (opposite side from the star). No, quote marks, no verb dots. The engraving should read:
"Act Justly,
Love Mercy,
And walk Humbly with your God"
Please let me know an approximate date of arrival. If possible, I would like to get it by the 14th. Please let me know...
Thanks very much Rani. I'm really looking forward to seeing the piece!
Shalom,
Vlad
Answer :
Shalom Vlad,
From my expirience, sending packages from Israel to the US by regular post could take between one to two weeks, and
in some rare cases even three. An alternative way is to use EMS fast shipping and that could take around 2-3 days 100% guaranteed.
It costs $20 though.
Regards
Rani
Question :
Hey Rani,
$20 is too much. Its ok, send it regular and we will
hope it arrives in 2 weeks not 3. So, let me know how
you want me to pay and lets get this moving As Soon As
Possible. Thanks Rani...
Vlad

Dear Vlad Kaykin,
Thank you for shopping at www.yalyjudaica.com
Your order is in process and will be shipped to you tomorrow:
I will mail your package by registered mail.
The registration number will be RR 195816514 IL
Vlad,
I hope you like it. We weren't so sure at the giftshop if we could fit in all the letters (this is the first time they try such a thing), but as you can see
it turnrd out pretty neat! We had to dodge that circle, which is like a little crater on the left. That is actually the mark left by the Star on the other side.
I would also like to ask your permission to post our complete correspondance on the website, on the answers and questions section. It's really great content for my website and also great for marketing.
