The 72 Names of God in Sefer Hazohar
This is a table of the 72 names of God according to the Kabbalah:
The Holy Sefer Hazohar (-Splendor or Radiance ) is the foundational work in the literature of Jewish mystical thought known as Kabbalah. It is a group of books including commentary on the mystical aspects of the Torah (the five books of Moses) and scriptural interpretations as well as material on theosophic theology, mythical cosmogony, and mystical psychology). The book explains that the 72 names originate from three verses in Sefer Shemot, Chapter Kaf Alef:
To obtain the 72 names write the first verse (Yud Tet) from right to left without spaces between the words. Write the second verse (Kaf) from left to right without spaces between the words, and finally write the third verse (Kaf Alef) from right to left without spaces between the words.
Reading from right to left (as in Hebrew), the first letter of the first verse followed by the first letter of the second verse followed by the first letter of the third verse create the first name on the top right hand corner of the table. The second letter of the first verse followed by the second letter of the second verse followed by the second letter of the third verse create the second name on the top right hand corner of the table. And so on.
According to the Kabbalah, visualizing the names of God, composed of three letters each, creates blessing and success in many aspects of our lives. It creates energy for finding a mate, fertility, health, prosperity, self confidence, evading self distruction, happiness, faith, miracles and abundance. It is advised to meditate and visualize the 72 names during a few minutes every day. This will fill our lives with positive energy, light and love. The 72 names offer us direct contact to the divine energy that nourishes the world. Wearing or carrying amulets and pendants with the different names of God help to connect the physical world with the spiritual world. They create an aura around the person and bring him luck, blessing, happiness and joy. And beyond this lays a secret: To control the forces of nature man must first gain control of his own nature.
Kabbalah is sometimes spelled as Cabala, Cabbalah, Kabala, Qabala, Kaballa, Kabballah, or Kabballa.
